Robert Steele is a Commissioner for the 2nd District of Cook County (Chicago), IL. He has more than 30 years of experience as a public servant of Chicago and Cook County. Steele is a result driven County Board Commissioner who is focusing on making meaningful and measurable contributions to the residents of his district and for all of Cook County.

At the Commission, Steele serves on several vital committee’s including construction, contract compliance, environmental control, real estate and economic development finance, health and hospitals, human relations, rules and administration and information technology.

Steele is also a passionate and outstanding community leader with a history of designing and implementing programs within Chicago communities to benefit local residents and businesses.

A true community leader, one is his strategies for improving his county is through service. He currently serves on many boards of directors and is an executive leader in several community organizations. Some of his Board service includes Sinai Health System, Third Gear Youth Leadership Fund, 100 Black Men, Keep Chicago Beautiful and the Chicago Jobs Council. He also works with the Woodstock Institute – Low Income Bank Lending Steering Committee, the Chicago Empowerment Zone, the Westside Association for Community Action and is the Chairman of the North Lawndale Development Corporation.

Steele graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration and Computer Science from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. He holds certifications from Neighbor Works America, Washington D.C. and San Francisco, CA; he is also a graduate and Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago.

He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and travel.
